Timelines for the 2026 Transdev Steward By-Election, and CUPE 561 Committee Elections are as follows
March 18th 12:01am to March 22nd 11:59pm – nomination period opens
March 29th by 3:30pm- Campaign materials for vetting due to returning officer (PDF version)
March 30th/31st – Vetting campaign materials by the returning officer
March 31st by 3:30pm – Returning Officer will email nominees approving of campaign materials.
April 2nd by 3:30pm – Campaign materials due to union office.
April 8th – ten-day campaign period begins
April 18th12:01am to April 22nd 11:59pm – Voting period
April 23rd – Results posted to website
Nomination process
Nominations are to be sent electronically as follows:
a) Nominator sends an email to the Returning Officer and cc’s the nominee and union office stating what position they are nominating the individual for
b) Nominee replies to the nominator and cc’s the Returning Officer and union office stating they accept.
c) Returning Officer replies to both the nominator, nominee and union office that it has been accepted.
d) Once the nomination period is closed, an election is held, or the position is filled by acclamation. To be eligible for election to any position the member on the date of being nominated must be a member in good standing.
Voting Process – Stewards and Committees
– The election will use a plurality voting system where members cast as many votes as the number of seats to be filled. There is no need to rank in order of your preference.
-The candidates with the most votes are elected.
-When more than one member is to be elected to an office, the member voting shall be required to vote for the full number of candidates to be elected or else the electronic vote will be declared spoiled.
Voting Period – April 18th 12:01am to April 22nd at 11:59pm
– Eligible voters will potentially receive multiple ballots, depending on which unit you are part of.
– Online voting will be via Simply Voting, please watch your inbox and junk folder for your ballots.
